If you disintegrate Greece, you will see that in the end you will be left with an olive tree, a vine, and a ship…. which means with just these you can rebuild it “
wrote the Nobel Prize-winning Greek poet Odysseas Elytis.
In Greece, we love olive oil, good wine, and wandering. This is the reason we built this unique half-day experience for people who visit Thessaloniki and wish to explore and experience local, secret, premium places and tastes!
Our day will start at the center of the city by visiting the first Greek urban vineyard and one of the world’s 8 urban vineyards!
The vineyard is owned by the municipality of Thessaloniki and mainly has an educational purpose. The wine produced is auctioned for community purposes, following the example of Paris where an urban vineyard already exists. After this extraordinary visit, we will take our minibus and continue to an unknown part of the city the Kalochori Lagoon which is part of Axios National Park. On this side of the city, we will have the chance to walk through the National Park, through the lagoon, and see some of the great bird varieties that live there including pink flamingos, pelicans, and cormorants!
This hike will full fill your heart but our tour is not going to end here!
Our last stop will fulfill your soul and will be at one of the most famous wineries of Thessaloniki located at Kalochori. At this family winery, we will have the chance to learn about the production of a historic and local good wine, visit the facilities of the winery and cellars, and of course finish with an exceptional wine tasting paired with selected Greek foods.
